The Glory of the Place Dunnavilla-hridgiri

Verse 1 (skanda.7.369.1)

ईश्वर उवाच। ततो गच्छेन्महादेवि दुन्नाविल्लेति विश्रुतम्। योजनस्यांतरे देवि पश्चिमे मंगलस्थितेः

īśvara uvāca| tato gacchenmahādevi dunnāvilleti viśrutam| yojanasyāṁtare devi paścime maṁgalasthiteḥ

Ishvara said: Then, O great Goddess, one should go to the place renowned as Dunnavilla — one yojana to the west, O Goddess, of the site of Mangala.

Verse 2 (skanda.7.369.2)

दुन्नको यत्र भीमेन भुक्त्वा त्यक्तः पुरा प्रिये। तत्रैव विवरं दिव्यं महा पातालमार्गदम्

dunnako yatra bhīmena bhuktvā tyaktaḥ purā priye| tatraiva vivaraṁ divyaṁ mahā pātālamārgadam

There, O beloved, where the demon Dunnaka was long ago devoured and then cast aside by Bhima, lies that same divine cavern, granting the great path down to the netherworld.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.369.3)

तस्य कल्पः पुरा प्रोक्तः पातालोत्तरसंग्रहे। तत्र लिंगान्यनेकानि सिद्धस्थानानि षोडश

tasya kalpaḥ purā proktaḥ pātālottarasaṁgrahe| tatra liṁgānyanekāni siddhasthānāni ṣoḍaśa

Its rite was told of old in the Patalottara-samgraha; there are many lingas there, and sixteen places of accomplishment.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.369.4)

सुवर्णस्याकरः पूर्वं तत्स्थानमभवत्प्रिये। तस्मिन्स्थाने नरैर्देवि गन्तव्यं भूतिलिप्सया

suvarṇasyākaraḥ pūrvaṁ tatsthānamabhavatpriye| tasminsthāne narairdevi gantavyaṁ bhūtilipsayā

O beloved, that place was formerly a mine of gold; O Goddess, men desiring prosperity should surely go to that place.
