The Worship of Someshvara

Verse 1 (skanda.7.44.1)

॥ ईश्वर उवाच ॥ आदित्येशं समभ्यर्च्य पुनः सोमेश्वरं व्रजेत् ॥ तं संपूज्य विधानेन पंचांगेन विशेषतः

|| īśvara uvāca || ādityeśaṁ samabhyarcya punaḥ someśvaraṁ vrajet || taṁ saṁpūjya vidhānena paṁcāṁgena viśeṣataḥ

Ishvara said: "Having worshipped Adityesha, one should then go again to Someshvara; having worshipped him according to rule, especially with the five-limbed ritual."

Verse 2 (skanda.7.44.2)

दृष्ट्वा सोमेश्वरं चैव साष्टांगं प्रणिपत्य च ॥ प्रदक्षिणादिकं कुर्यात्संपश्येच्च पुनःपुनः

dṛṣṭvā someśvaraṁ caiva sāṣṭāṁgaṁ praṇipatya ca || pradakṣiṇādikaṁ kuryātsaṁpaśyecca punaḥpunaḥ

Having beheld Someshvara, and having prostrated with the eight limbs touching the ground, one should perform circumambulation and the like, and gaze upon him again and again.

Verse 3 (skanda.7.44.3)

सूर्याचन्द्रमसोर्लिंगं त्रिःकृत्वा प्रयतः शुचिः ॥ अग्नीषोमात्मकं कर्म तेन सर्वं कृतं भवेत्

sūryācandramasorliṁgaṁ triḥkṛtvā prayataḥ śuciḥ || agnīṣomātmakaṁ karma tena sarvaṁ kṛtaṁ bhavet

Pure and self-controlled, circumambulating the linga of the Sun and Moon three times — by that, the whole rite consisting of Agni and Soma is accomplished.

Verse 4 (skanda.7.44.4)

उमादेवीं ततो गच्छेत्सोमेश्वरसमीपतः ॥ द्वितीयां तु ततो गच्छेद्दैत्यसूदनसन्निधौ

umādevīṁ tato gacchetsomeśvarasamīpataḥ || dvitīyāṁ tu tato gaccheddaityasūdanasannidhau

Then one should go to Uma Devi, near Someshvara; and then, secondly, one should go into the presence of Daityasudana (Vishnu, slayer of demons).
