Ambe Tu Hai Jagdambe Kali (Durga Aarti)

ambe tū hai jagadambe kālī, jaya durge khappara vālī | tere hī guṇa gāveṃ bhāratī, o maiyā hama saba utāre terī āratī ||

हे अम्बे, तुम ही जगदम्बा और काली हो; हे खप्परधारिणी दुर्गे, तुम्हारी जय हो! भारती (भारतवासी) तुम्हारे ही गुण गाते हैं — ओ मैया, हम सब तुम्हारी आरती उतारते हैं।

O Amba, you are Jagadamba, the Mother of the world, and Kali; victory to you, Durga, bearer of the skull-bowl! The people of Bharat sing your virtues — O Mother, we all perform your aarti.

tere bhaktajano para maiyyā, bhīṛa paṛī hai bhārī | dānava dala para ṭūṭa paṛo mā̃, karake siṃha savārī || sau-sau siṃhoṃ se bhī balaśālī, hai aṣṭa bhujāoṃ vālī | dukhiyoṃ ke dukhaṛe nivāratī, o maiyā hama saba utāre terī āratī ||

हे मैया, तेरे भक्तजनों पर भारी संकट आ पड़ा है; सिंह पर सवार होकर, हे माँ, दानव-दल पर टूट पड़ो! जो सौ-सौ सिंहों से भी बलशाली और अष्टभुजा वाली हो, दुखियों के दुख दूर करने वाली — ओ मैया, हम सब तेरी आरती उतारते हैं।

O Mother, a great trouble has fallen upon your devotees; mounted on your lion, fall upon the army of demons! Mightier than a hundred lions, you are the one with eight arms, who takes away the sorrows of the suffering — O Mother, we all perform your aarti.

mā̃-beṭe kā hai isa jaga meṃ, baṛā hī nirmala nātā | pūta-kupūta sune haiṃ para nā, mātā sunī kumātā || saba pe karuṇā darśāne vālī, amṛta barasāne vālī | dukhiyoṃ ke dukhaṛe nivāratī, o maiyā hama saba utāre terī āratī ||

इस जगत में माँ और बेटे का नाता सबसे निर्मल है; कुपूत (बुरा पुत्र) तो सुना है, पर कुमाता (बुरी माँ) कभी नहीं सुनी। सब पर करुणा दिखाने वाली, अमृत बरसाने वाली, दुखियों के दुख हरने वाली — ओ मैया, हम सब तेरी आरती उतारते हैं।

In this world the bond of mother and child is the purest of all; one hears of a bad son, but never of a bad mother. You who show compassion to all and rain down nectar, who take away the sorrows of the suffering — O Mother, we all perform your aarti.

nahīṃ mā̃gate dhana aura daulata, nā cā̃dī nā sonā | hama to mā̃geṃ mā̃ tere mana meṃ, ika choṭā sā konā || sabakī bigaṛī banāne vālī, lāja bacāne vālī | satiyoṃ ke sata ko savā̃ratī, o maiyā hama saba utāre terī āratī ||

हम धन-दौलत नहीं माँगते, न चाँदी न सोना; हम तो बस, हे माँ, तेरे मन में एक छोटा-सा कोना माँगते हैं। सबकी बिगड़ी बनाने वाली, लाज बचाने वाली, सतियों के सत को सँवारने वाली — ओ मैया, हम सब तेरी आरती उतारते हैं।

We ask not for wealth or riches, neither silver nor gold; we ask only for a little corner, O Mother, in your heart. You who set right everyone’s ruined affairs and guard our honour, who uphold the virtue of the devoted — O Mother, we all perform your aarti.
